Most of us who care about animals feel the urge to rescue or save an animal we perceive to be in distress. Sometimes we get it wrong and think an animal needs help and interfere causing more distress. Reading about a man who 'saved' a bison calf because he thought it was cold by putting it in his car then looking for help is probably one of the most silly examples I've read about though. Bison live in extreme climates and have survived centuries because they evolved with their environments and are highly adapted to deal with cold. Taking the calf from it's mother and the safety of the herd put this small animal at risk. When will people ever learn not to interfere with wildlife ? It's not as if the calf was injured, it's just a classic human act of ignorance about how a species live. Fortunately authorities returned the calf to it's herd where I hope it's mother found it.
